JAIPUR- the first planned city in INDIA,now is the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur was established in the year 1726,it was planned by the great vashtukar VIDYADHAR JI. When the Amer riyasat expanded the need was felt to change the capital of the riyasat, the than king of Amer riyasat MAHARAJA JAISINGH saw the open vacant field from the mountains of  now Garh Ganesh and then the pink city Jaipur was planned at that time. At that time the city had nine gates but now the area of  Jaipur is 3,000 square kilometres and still it is expanding.

THE SAWAI FLAG-means the KING is in the palace in the city. The oraganiser of the Jaipur city  Sawai Jaisingh was the first such king who was given the highest post after all the kings in DILLI DARBAR(now DELHI) . Badshah AURANGJEB had given the name SAWAI  to the king JAISINGH for his valliancy. SAWAI FLAG was given to him with his name at the same time in his honour. The SAWAI FLAG  still stands on the Fort of Jaipur (now CITY PALACE),when the flag stands on the fort it means the king is in the city and when the flag is taken off it means the king has gone somewhere outside the city or then called riyasat,the flag comprises of five colours.


CITY PALACE,JAIPUR
In  the year 1737 the king SAWAI JAISINGHordered to make  the NAHARGARH fort,in his reign three forts were made in which NAHARGARH was the first one which is also known as Tiger fort. Before this in the year 1715 near the temple of GOVIND DEV JI ,the BADAL BHAWAN was built.






In the year 1835 the wife of then king MAHARAJA RAMSINGH built the first queen palace outside the city which is now known as RAMBAGH PALACE. In the year 1925 it was made the residence for RAJ PARIVAR(the family of king),and after that in  the year 1957 RAMBAGH PALACE became the first palace hotel in INDIA. Jaipur has a very golden history of its own time,due to pink colour of the houses and the palaces the, Jaipur is known as the PINK CITY.

There are three forts in Jaipur,first one is NAHARGARH FORT,second is the JAIGARH FORT,and the third is the AMER FORT, the most beautiful is the AMER FORT in all the three forts and a great heritage of the Jaipur.

JAIPUR(pink city) is the capital of Rajasthan with a variety of culture and traditions acquired from its different old cities and districts, Rajasthan has artistic traditions and old life culture in its villages which people have been carrying generation to generation   and now also it can be found in villages as well as in towns of Rajasthan.

There is a folk culture of Rajathan which has not vanished though hundreds of years have passed, it depicts the symbolic life of Rajasthani people which they live in. There is a very typical life in villages, due to shortage of water women of Rajasthan go far distances to fetch water for their daily need. There is a large range of desert in Rajasthan where most villages are preserving their folk culture and art traditions, there is a wide range of folk dances in different places of rajasthan.

ART AND CRAFT WITH TEXTILES
 Rajasthan is famous for textile industries which shows the ancient art traditions and the clothes the ancient people of Rajasthan which they use to wear, there are various showrooms in Jaipur which are in directly contact with the textile industries of villages and handicraft works,they used to display the handicrafts as Jaipur is a hub for  handicraft works and textiles.

Jaipur is famous for BLUE POTTERY art and for GEMS and semi precious STONES works. Rajasthan exports Dye prints,Block prints,Bagaru prints,Sanganer prints,and the most important Zari embroidery. There is a very famous showroom for  saree in Jaipur as "ZAARI".

There is good demand of fine handicraft carpets from Jaipur to foreign markets as there are numerous of handicraft industries producing carpets in jaipur.







FOLK DANCE
 GHOOMAR is the characteristics dance of BHILLS in Rajasthan,it is specific tribal dance which has been carried through generations.During HOLI(festival of colours) GAIR is performed by men in Rajasthan which becomes DANDIA in Jodhpur and GEENDAD in Shekhawati.

CHARI is another type of dance performed by women in Kisherigarh of Rajasthan,a lightened diya or lamp is placed on the earthen pot or metal pot over the head of the women and the dance is performed.
KALBELIYA is performed by the snake charmers community of the Rajasthan. PABHUJI KI PHACH  is performed by Bhopa ommunity in Rajasthan. BHAWAI is the traditional dance of Rajasthan which has been perfomed throughout centuries and has never lost its traditions.

CHARI DANCE
                                                                                   

PUPPET DANCE is the another form of dance in a Rajasthan which we can see now in different states and in  many countries,this dance has been acquired in all over the world from Rajasthan. Juggling and DRUM DANCE is famous in Nagore district of Rajasthan which can be seen during the wedding  seasons in Rajasthan.

RAJASTHANI DRESS
Rajasthan has a wide variety of dresses in its own fashion style but people of villages and Rajasthani women wear traditional dresses in their houses or at some occasions. Though the arena has changed but the old fashion is  in more highlight due to beautiful traditional dresses being bought throughout the INDIA and a good market for the traditional dresses.
GHAGHRA AND CHOLI








                                                                                               




GHAGHARA and CHOLI is the famous traditional dress of Rajasthan. GHAGHRA is the ankle length skirt for women and CHOLI is for covering the head and the upper body. This combination can be found in any part of the Rajasthan as it is a traditional dress of whole Rajasthan.
